My grandma went all out to throw my parents a wonderful party for their 25th wedding anniversary. One of my mom’s friend/coworker named Jared came. I’ve known him for a long time but this was actually the first time I got to really talk to him. He is pretty funny and for some reason I am attracted to him. At the end of the night he gave me a hug and then left.

When I moved back to Tempe from Glendale the first thing I thought about was getting a job so I could pay off my bills. I went to the Native I had worked at for three years before I moved, and I asked them if I could have my job back. They said of course and that was that. My mom called me the same day and told me that broadway Native wanted to hire me. At first I told her I couldn’t because I already got my old job back, but then I remembered that Jared is the general manager at broadway, so I told her I would work something out. I work at the dobson Native three days a week and broadway twice. Since I have been working with Jared more I have started liking him more. I haven’t said anything at work though because I feel it would be inappropriate.

Tonight my family, including all of my aunts and cousins went to a competition called Battle of the Bone. As I was sitting at the booth with my cousins I was wondering whether or not Jared was going to come. I figured he would since it was like a family event and it involved Native. Well next thing I know he is walking in the door. He sat at the table with my aunts Sherri and Linda as well as my mom and dad. There were a few chairs open so I went and sat across from him. Nobody in my family really knows I like him except for my cousin Katie and my mom. So as I am sitting talking to Jared my cousin Katie goes up behind Sherri and Linda and fills them in on my little crush. I can see them looking at the both of us and then Sherri goes “Oh we should leave the lovebirds alone” She said it really quiet so I don’t know if he heard, but I’m hoping not. I sent Sherri a text asking her to find out if he had a girlfriend or not. So she goes and basically screams “Hey Jared! You got a girlfriend?” He said no and then she goes “Chelsy! He is single!” Oh my God. I wanted to die. I thought she was going to do it all nonchalant, but I guess the multiple shots she’d taken made her want to scream it.

After that I just laughed, got up, and walked back to the booth with my cousins. At this point I’m figuring I should just tell him I like him… I mean he already has gotten a few hints and we are not at work so it would be the perfect time. I texted Sherri, because I was too chicken to go up and tell him myself, to let him know I liked him. She might as well finish it… even if its loud. She texted me saying “He won’t date an employee that works for him.” So I sent one back ”Well fuck, I’m gonna have to quit Native… I’m putting in my two weeks” Right as I sent that to her I see Linda, Sherri and my mom walking to the bathroom so I got up and followed them. I asked Sherri what was said and she just said he likes the fact that you will quit your job for him and he smiled. She said I should definitely go for it.

So after I get out of bathroom I wrote a note that said “Sherri tells me you wont date an employee, so consider this my two weeks”… then wrote my phone number. I was going to give it to him but thought maybe I should let things cool down before I ambush with more. I started feeling like the way everything went down was pretty high school-ish and since he is a a few years older than me I decided it would be better to talk to him in private more like an adult instead of handing him a wrinkled piece of paper in front of my mom.

I work with him on Friday and at the end of the night when he is cashing me out I plan on talking to him. I hope it works out. :)
